Multiple forms of synthesis

It all begins with sound. OASYS delivers a level of realism, fidelity and sound quality that is a new milestone for a professional musical instrument.

The OASYS ships with four advanced synthesis engine algorithms for your audio palette:

• HD-1 High Definition PCM synth

Each synthesis engine excels at its given method of making sound, and they can be freely blended in Combinations and used on each track of a Song for total sonic freedom. The design of the OASYS allowed for additional engines and sound libraries to be developed, and these are available for purchase from korguser.net..

• LAC-1 Legacy Analog Collection

an MS-20EX and PolysixEX

One example of this flexible design brought us the optional LAC-1 Legacy Analog Collection EXi, which adds the distinctive MS-20EX and the rich-sounding PolysixEX to the audio arsenal of the OASYS. Korg’s Component Modeling Technology (CMT) rebuilds the entire original instrument in the digital domain, for a level of authenticity not possible in other systems.

• New! MOD-7 Waveshaping VPM Synthesizer

Our most advinced EXi offering is MOD-7: the next-generation VPM synthesizer, delivering both classic and forward-looking sonic possibilities. The MOD-7 is a powerful, semi-modular synthesizer that combines Variable Phase Modulation (VPM), waveshaping, ring modulation, PCM sample playback, and subtractive synthesis, bringing both classic and cutting edge synthesis possibilities to your fingertips.

Heaven (320 bitrate) (15.1 MB, mp3)
by Andreas Gundlach

This demo is part of a CD released in Germany by Korg & More to showcase the OASYS. Everything on the demo came from a single OASYS. It is presented in two resolutions in consideration for your Internet connection speed. For the lower resolution version (192 bitrate), click here (mp3, 8.66MB).

A few production notes:

The piano is the EXs-2 Piano (503 MB), slightly edited to suit Andreas’ touch (velocity curve) and taste (filter response).

The drums were played live into the sequencer from the EXs-1 Studio-Standard Kit (I-E 004), again edited slightly to match how Andreas likes to map drum sounds for playing live (some small mistakes were edited out later, of course!).

The percussion part in the middle was generated by KARMA, then resampled and laid back into the track as an audio loop.
