This dramatic, symphonic and cinematic-inspired composition was performed entirely using Combi U-E001 Vel F.Horn Heroics SW EX1. An essential and featured element of this piece are powerful octave glissandi, produced by velocity switching in realtime. "French Horn Heroics" also demonstrates the wide dynamic range of the horn as heard in ensemble, solo unison, chorale, and polyphonic passages. You will hear stopped horn, slow attack and sforzando effects, many of which were created by performing on the Ribbon, Sliders, and Switches in realtime.

Two english horns are the featured soloists in this original baroque-style piece written using Combi U-E002: C'Grosso Ob/EHrn SW1 EX2. Solo bassoon is also featured.
The EX programs heard in this Combi are U-E102 Vib EnglishHorn SW1 EX2 and U-E104 Vibrato Bassoon EX2.
S010 Saxo-5-ophones EX2 (Mp3, 6.10 MB)
Sit back and enjoy this blues-inspired groove in 5 as a full sax ensemble (with baritone sax bass) sets up the backdrop for individual solos by soprano, alto, tenor, and bari saxophones.
The ensemble portion of the piece was performed entirely using Combi U-E014: Endless Sax Ensemble EX2. The initial breathy sound of the saxes is heard to give way to a more strident sound by the use of velocity switching and performing on the Ribbon to increase brightness. Solos were performed on additional Timbres added to the Combi after the rhythm section was recorded.

This fusion-style piece shows ensemble use of the program U-E001 Sforzando Brass EX1, demonstrating both the sforzando/swell effect of this program as well as its ability to create tight staccato parts. The Ribbon is programmed to control overall brightness of the filter, allowing you to create your own sforzando/swell effects to suit any tempo. Listen for the surprise "extra player" who appears at the end (maybe he showed up late for the gig?)

Three phrases played on different members of the trumpet family demonstrate the dynamics, playing range, and timbral characteristics associated with each instrument. Heard in order are U-E045 Vibrato Cornet EX1, U-E030 Dyna 4-Way Trumpet EX1 and then U-E043 Velo Vib Picc Trumpet EX1.
S013 Albondigas! EX1 (Mp3, 1.92 MB)
Translation: "meatballs!" in Spanish. This short Latin Jazz-influenced composition features solo tuba, solo trombone, and ensemble cup mute trombones.
Programs used include U-E007 Walking Tuba EX1, U-E054 V Doit Trombone Vib EX1, U-E049 3 Way Trombone EX1and U-E026 Stereo Cup Trombones EX1.

Short excursions for alto flute, flute, and piccolo demonstrate the differences in texture, range, and playing techniques associated with these instruments. Programs used include U-E086 Alto Flute EX1&2, U-E084 Flutter Flute EX1, U-E070 Piccolo EX1, U-E072 Vibrato Piccolo EX1, U-E079 Vibrato Flute EX1 and U-E085 Vel GlisUp Vib Flute EX1.
S015 Clarinet Moods EX2 (Mp3, 2.42 MB)
This piece starts with a mysterious yet humorous passage for bass clarinet, demonstrating the full sound of the lowest register as well as different articulations and timbres (breathy, legato, staccato, loud/honky). Clarinets are known for very fast scales and arpeggios, as demonstrated in the opening Bb (soprano) clarinet solo. Also featured are the wide dynamic range of clarinets and a variety of articulations heard in both formal and jazzy styles (breathy, legato, staccato, natural vibrato, natural pitch bends, etc.) The demo concludes with bass and Bb clarinets playing a duet, concluding with sampled falls.
