K61P – a USB-MIDI controller with built-in piano sound generator
The Korg K-Series feature nine controllers and a velocity-sensitive standard-sized keyboard in a slim and stylish design; and are now joined by a model with a built-in piano sound generator. The K61P gives you a lavishly-equipped USB-MIDI controller together with a selection of the high-grade Korg sounds acclaimed by professionals around the world, making it a great choice for live performance or music production.

Korg's piano sound – richly expressive in every detail
The K61P contains stereo-sampled piano PCM that have been carefully recorded to capture every detail of a grand piano's resonance, from the hammer strike to the lingering decay. The voicing technology that Korg is famous for has been used to reproduce all aspects of the piano's distinctive depth. The built-in piano sounds include six natural-sounding acoustic pianos that use the same stretched tuning as an acoustic piano, as well as five electric piano sounds. There are also thirteen additional sounds such as clavi, organ, strings, and choir, giving you a total of twenty-four sounds. The Werckmeister temperament used in Baroque organ performance and the Kirnberger temperament used by harpsichords are also provided, letting you enjoy music in a wide range of genres.

A great-feeling standard-sized keyboard
As one of the leading synthesizer manufacturers, Korg has equipped the K61P with a great-feeling keyboard. You can choose from four velocity curves, including a fixed-velocity curve that is indispensable for playing organ or analog synth sounds. You can also transpose the pitch in steps of one +/-1 octave or in semitones.

ClickPoint and other versatile controllers
Nine carefully selected basic controllers are provided in an easy-to-use layout, including knobs, sliders, and switches, as well as the unique ClickPoint which can function in either Control Change or Mouse Cursor modes.

Bundled with the M1 Le software synthesizer
The K61P is bundled with the “M1 Le” software synthesizer, a software version of Korg's classic M1 Music Workstation. The M1 workstation synthesizer has enjoyed undying popularity for its distinctive sounds – including the famous “M1 Piano” sound – and is now available as a software synthesizer for use as a stand alone instrument or running within most popular sequencer and DAW applications (VST/Audio Units/RTAS formats). The M1 Le provides all 200 preset sounds of the original M1 and all 144 of its PCM waveforms. It supports Macintosh and Windows, and can also be used as a plug-in instrument in VST/Audio Units/RTAS formats. You can also upgrade at a special price from the M1 Le to the full version of the KORG Legacy Collection - DIGITAL EDITION, giving you the full version of the M1 software synthesizer with more than 2,700 sounds, as well as the "WAVESTATION v1.5 software synthesizer" and the "MDE-X v1.2 multi-effect plug-in."

Included editor software for free customiZation
Editor software is included, making it easy to create, edit and manage controller assignment “scenes” on your computer. The Editor software uses an intuitive design that makes it easy to customize the K61P to your needs. Template scenes for popular music production programs and software synthesizers are also included, letting you integrate the K61P into your system from the day you bring it home.

USB bus-powered operation
Even though the K61P has a built-in sound generator, it can operate on USB bus power simply by connecting it to your computer via USB. Alternatively, it can be powered by a separately sold AC adaptor.

The K-series also comes with free demo versions of some of the hottest software titles around, including the Korg Legacy Collection, Live 5 by Ableton, Lounge Lizard EP-3, Ultra Analog VA-1, and String Studio VS-1 from Applied Acoustic Systems, and Reason 3.0 by Propellerhead.
