ALPHABEAT
We recently caught up with Danish Pop maestros Alphabeat, who took time out of their busy rehearsal schedule to talk to us on camera about their Korg powered sound.
When we met the band they were just about to support Lady Gaga on the UK leg of the Monster Ball tour, which they were really excited about. Following that they hit SXSW and are currently on a tour of the UK.
Alphabeats new album 'The Beat Is' has been hugely influenced by early 90s dance, bringing a slightly different feel to their sound but still keeping the fun factor of their debut album in tact. The guys chatted about the gear that helps them achieve this.
The M3 has been a constant in the bands live and studio set up for a while now and Keyboard player Rasmus tells us; " It's really easy to use; to put delays, effects, reverbs on....and the touch screen makes it easy to navigate." Rasmus kindly demonstrates a few of their new tracks including 'Hole In My Heart', which you can see on the video.
The newest addition to their set up is the Korg MicroSAMPLER. Guitar and Keyboard player Anders B told us; " We wanted to get the MicroSAMPLER because we thought it would be more fun if we could actually play the samples live and we thought that this was a magnificent thing for doing that, because it has a keyboard and is not inside a computer, so it's more hands on. So the plan is to take the samples from the hard drive and put them into the MicroSAMPLER."
Bass player Anders R is also using Korg in the form of the R3. Originally a Microkorg user Anders has moved on to the R3; "The R3 is great as it has full size keys. You can generate some great bass sounds, they are massive."
